What is it....?!?!?!

The other day my Father-in-Law showed up to our house with this.....

Maybe I should give a little background. Our family loves Disney...My Father-in-Law loves garage sales...put the two together and you get this "Disney character" from a garage sale! It stands about 2 feet tall, and makes Hyrum a little nervous. When Richie's dad realized it wasn't a Disney guy we all had a really good laugh, and after all, it is the thought that counts! Thanks for thinking of us Larry! Now the real question is....what the crap do I do with it?!

A 14 week flu?!?!

Ok, so I know that I am like the worst blogger ever! I don't even know if anyone is even looking here any more! I have what I think is a good excuse however, we found out that much to Hyrum's dismay, he is going to be a big brother. I am now at 14 weeks, and we have the first picture of our little "peanut". When we first found out that there was something a little "off" with me, and finally figured out what it was, Richie and I were hanging blinds in one of our other rooms. We were talking about how we could move the furniture around and change it into a room for the baby, not even realizing that a 2 yr old could comprehend what we were even discussing. A few hours later I was in the shower and the curtain flung open. Hyrum looked up at me and said, "Mommy, I can't want a baby in the 'nother room!" I realized he did understand what was going on, and said to him, "Okay, son, we will just put the baby in your room with you," to which he replied in a very stern voice, "I can't want a baby!" and shut the curtain.

He is trying to wrap his little 2 yr old mind around this concept of being a big brother, and is warming up to it slowly. He has gone from "no baby" to "I am going to put the baby in my room in this bucket!!!" (we will be hiding any bucket we have around the house before the baby comes home!)

I am slowly getting over the puking stage of this whole thing, thank heavens for zofran. The computer screen made me just sick to even look at, so hopefully I will get back on the blog train.

Memorial day

OK, OK, OK...so I know that I am like way behind, but I am just to the point that I can blog about our Memorial Day weekend, I feel like I have been working non-stop to make up for the time we took off. We were able to go up to "The Ranch." We had a blast, and I don't think Hyrum has slept that well in a very long time. He just couldn't get enough of the horses, the four-wheelers, the guns, and all of the other traditions that I grew up knowing and loving. It was way cold there but very warm with memories.

Missing Jake

This week our e-mail from Jake had all of his information for his Mother's Day phone call. I have to be honest and say that it has made me very homesick to know that I was not going to be able to talk to him. As I was feeling sorry for myself, I was organizing some pictures and came across a few crazy ones of him. The blue face from the BYU vs. Utah game...the try on sock from Payless shoe store over his head...and the favorite pose of shaking his head back and forth saying, "take it now...take it now...", these all brought a warm feeling to my heart with the reminder of the importance of the wonderful work that he is doing. It made me realize how insignificant being there for a phone call really is. He is such a great example to our whole family! It is amazing how something as simple as a picture can change your whole perspective on something. It is also amazing how Jake is still making me laugh out loud at what a goof ball he really is.

About us...

Our little family lives in Mesa, AZ. Richie and I have been married for 5 years this June. We have a beautiful son, Hyrum, who is 2 years old and keeps us running around in circles.

We work hard, and play hard. Richie is a Block Mason and works from sun up to sun down, but still takes the time to roll around and wrestle with Hyrum at the end of the day. I finally graduated and passed my boards for my RN in January (whoo hoo), and currently work as a Nurse at Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix. I work in the Couplet Care unit with new moms and babies. I love my job!!!!

Our family loves to ride four wheelers and I am learning to love the outdoors, sometimes you have to fake it until you make it!!!
